Fidelity is in my series of water monoliths which all exploit what is known as rollwave. Two mirror polished stainless steel shapes three metres high rise from the ground through a specially made bronze grating, which allows access right up to and between the two parts of the sculpture.
Water flows down the verical surfaces creating ever-changing patterns of rollwave formations, where the thin film of water is pulled by surface tension into rhythmical wave patterns. The water then falls back into the tank below ground through a narrow gap around the sculpture. The bronze grating at ground level allows any stray drips or splashing caused by touching the stainless steel surface to return to the tank below.
