William Pye Water Scupture

Scylla

Scylla is the smaller sibling of Charybdis in Sunderland, featuring a vortex in a transparent cylinder.

The plinth that supports and anchors the cylinder is in the form of terraced steps that wrap around, enabling one to see the aircore vortex from different points. This plinth is also the reservoir that holds the volume of water necessary for operating this piece.
