Tavola

Tavola, italian for a 'laid table', is the name I have given to a series of pieces which are all table-like, where reflection is the principal component. Water enters the bronze vessel from underneath and pours out through spouts at each corner.

The flow rate is such that the overall level is up to the brim without spilling over the edge, while a significant volume of water continues to flow through the spouts.

The precision and accuracy of the flow of the spouts is such that the filaments of water can pass into the subterranean reservoir through small holes in the surrounding stone paving.

This rectangular Tavola, in a private garden in Wiltshire, was completed in September 2005. See the video here
