William Pye Water Scupture

Triple Spout

While I was engaged as a consultant to Nicholas Hare Architects to develop with them the Water Tower for the Cardiff Oval Basin, I suggested installing a water sculpture in one of two D-shaped areas which were formerly feeder pits for balancing water levels in the dock. I used the depth – a large negative space – to house the pool which receives water from the first triple spout sculpture which I had developed in my studio. The surround of the spout is shaped like a porthole, offering echoes of the Basin’s former use.
